Unique Polymer Systems flies the flag for global sustainability

Tom Pettigrew, Director at Unique Polymer Systems

Since it was established in 1992, Unique Polymer Systems (UPS) has evolved into a global go-to source for high-performance repair composite materials and specialist protective coatings. The company supplies their solutions to customers all over the world in the mining, marine, oil and gas, power generation, paper & pulp, chemical & corrosion, water, Petrochemical and general industries.

The family business, which is based at Units 19 and 21 at Malvern Link Business Centre – was founded by Robin Pettigrew and his son Tom is now at the helm. Robin comes from an engineering background and Tom studied Forensic Science at university before taking on the reins from Robin in 2020, successfully managing the business ever since.

As Jamie Haddon, Sales and Marketing Manager highlights, Unique Polymer Systems has a niche market and this is why they work with customers in North and South America, Africa, Europe, the Middle East and Asia. ‘Our products help our customers all over the world to repair rather than replace equipment, so in this sense we are flying the flag for global sustainability. As our products are mainly in stock we are able to turn orders around quickly so customers aren’t left waiting too long to carry out repairs.’

As well as Robin, Tom and Jamie, the Unique Polymer Systems team includes Abi who is their Office Manager and George their Warehouse Operator. As far as their units are concerned, Jamie says they are perfect for their needs and the team all enjoy being based at Malvern Link. ‘It’s a nice quiet community and we like the fact that Richard pops in regularly to make sure everything is going OK.’
